For The Sake Of Elena: An Intriguing Murder Mystery

Murder mysteries fascinate readers in ways one cannot imagine, they delve into the novel to find out who the killer was and what was the motive behind the murder and do not stop until they have reached the end. Such is the power of a mystery novel, these days such books can be easily found on online reading mediums like Mybymedia. When we talk about murder mysteries, one book that definitely cannot be missed is For The Sake Of Elena by Elizabeth George.

This book follows the story of Elena Weaver who had a strikingly distinct personality. She takes everybody by surprise when she first meets them. In her clingy dresses and dangling earrings, she exuded a sexuality at odds with the innocence projected by the unicorn posters on her wall. She studied in Cambridge while her embittered mother fretted about her welfare from home in London. Elena was a student at St. Stephen's college where she lived with her father and stepmother. Her father and his second wife had their own very different image of the girl. As for Elena, she lived a life of casual and intense physical and emotional relationships, with scores to settle and goals to achieve – until someone, lying in wait along the route she ran every morning, murdered her.

The university is unwilling to turn the killing over to the local police which is why they call in New Scotland Yard. Thus, detective inspector Thomas Lynley and his partner, detective sergeant Barbara Havers, enter the rarefied world of Cambridge University, where the murderous intentions of people are hidden under academic gowns.

The case quickly becomes complicated as Lynley and Havers discover that the seemingly innocent and withdrawn Weaver led a life that no one understood completely. The investigation of her murder forces them to put together a puzzle of disparate parts.
